James Hughes

Associate Attorney

Undergraduate:  Law School:

James attended the University of New Mexico where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and majored in political science and history. He then obtained his law degree at Wake Forest University School of Law. Notably, prior to graduation, James took part in a judicial internship for a magistrate judge at the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. As part of this experience, he had the opportunity to draft motions and hone his legal writing. James was also a Healthcare & Policy Fellow and Research Assistant at Wake Forest University School of Law, and these two roles were primarily focused on regulatory compliance and data privacy.

James joined Groth, Makarenko, Kaiser & Eidex originally as a law clerk in August 2022 where he assisted the firms’ attorneys primarily with discovery projects, pleadings and research while awaiting his bar examination results.  Since being sworn in as an attorney, his practice area focuses primarily on the defense of automobile and premises cases.  James is drawn to the practice of law because it presents the opportunity to solve complex problems while also serving others.

An avid golfer, James, was a scratch golfer in high school (Sugar Hill, GA) before attending the University of New Mexico and participated in U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur Qualifiers. Originally from Suwanee, James enjoys watching the Atlanta Braves and resides in Lawrenceville.
